Motivated by the knowledge that the Word of the Lord will go forth from Jerusalem to the Nations, and guided by a commitment to read the New Testament in its first century context, Jerusalem Seminary provides cutting-edge ministry training that stresses the unity of the body of Messiah expressed within the complementary frameworks of a mature Messianic Judaism and a vital Christianity.
The School of Graduate Studies (SGS) at Jerusalem Seminary currently offers a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies. This degree is focused primarily in the Hebrew Bible and a Judaic interpretive perspective of both testaments of the Bible. It is grounded in an engaging study of Biblical Hebrew as a living language and a robust course sequence in the study of the lands of the Bible, including two modules of study on the ground in Israel.
The School of Graduate Studies’ delivery model is designed to meet the demands of students both in Israel and abroad. The majority of our courses are taught live online, with options for asynchronous engagement. Whether you are a senior in your undergraduate degree, a minister seeking further preparation, or a professional who would like academic training in the area of biblical studies, Jerusalem Seminary’s MA in Biblical Studies has something to offer you.
The Master of Arts in Biblical Studies (MABS) at Jerusalem Seminary immerses students in a rigorous, faith-centered program that integrates Jewish roots and a living Hebraic tradition into Christian thought and practice. The curriculum is built on four core pillars—Biblical Hebrew language proficiency, deep engagement with the Land of Israel, direct biblical text study from a faith perspective, and Judaic-informed biblical theology—all aimed at forming a unified view of the significance of the Jewish people and the land for Christian life and ministry.
A fifth pillar, spiritual formation, is woven throughout the program via mentoring and personal growth opportunities. Although most courses are available online, students are required to make two visits to Israel, enabling hands-on, holistic learning experiences that integrate ethnogeography, historical context, and present realities.

Jerusalem Seminary is a member of the International Council for Evangelical Theological Education (ICETE) and the European Council for Theological Education (ECTE). Though we are not currently accredited, we work in alignment with the standards they have set for institutions seeking accreditation, conforming to the highest standards in ministry and theological education.
Any internal JS credit will accrue and at a later time would hopefully, through articulation agreements and accreditation bodies, receive official accreditation; a process that JS has begun.
Jerusalem Seminary’s tuition is $500 per credit hour. The first three semesters, students will take 15 hours, making the cost for the tuition for each of those semesters $7500. The final semester is 16 hours and costs, $8000. The tuition for the In-land modules is rolled into the cost of the overall trip, which we estimate at $4500 (excluding flight costs).
Yes. It is the goal of JS that graduate theological education be as affordable as possible. For this reason we actively pursue opportunities to help students fund their studies. Every student accepted into our masters program will receive a financial award letter within two weeks of receiving their acceptance. This letter will detail the level of scholarship that we are able to offer that student at that time. Awards typically cover a significant portion of the tuition fees and the in-land courses as well. There is not a separate scholarship application.
While we have a rolling admissions process, we will begin reviewing applications for admission in January. We ask that serious students submit their applications before July 1 for consideration for the fall of 2025.
No. At this time, students may only matriculate in the fall semester.
Jerusalem Seminary believes it is essential that students have a firm understanding of Biblical Hebrew. For this reason every masters student is expected to demonstrate a mastery of this vital skill. Students who have attained this ability previously may have introductory coursework in the language waived. Students without this level of Hebrew will be required to complete our Biblical Hebrew program through Level 3. All students are required to complete a Biblical Hebrew Exegesis course while at JS. Assessment of a student’s level of mastery of Biblical Hebrew is overseen by the Director of the School of Hebrew.
